Encaustic Workshops

Norman Soskel will teach encaustic painting workshops at the Germantown Hobby Lobby (on Exeter) beginning in October.
The first workshop will be a basic workshop teaching the history, safety, materials and methods. The curriculum is designed for those who have not had prior experience with encaustic or who want to learn the proper use of the medium. It will be a 6 hour workshop from 12:30 PM until 6:30 PM starting October 25. Attendees will produce between 3 and 5 pieces of art during the day. After the initial workshop, basic workshops will be at the same time and location on the second Friday of each month.
Starting November 22, extended encaustic workshops will be held at the same time and place on the 4th Friday of each month. This will provide additional techniques not covered in the basic workshop. The basic workshop is a prerequisite for the extended workshop.
These workshops are for adults only.
In addition, Norman teaches private lessons, to be arranged individually, in his studio.
For additional information contact Norman at 901 230 8083 or  send an e-mail to him at norman@normansoskel.com.
To visualize some of the encaustic paintings Norman has produced, go to his web site: www.normansoskel.com. Two examples are included below. These pieces demonstrate the incredible vibrancy of color and luminosity that can be achieved with encaustic painting.
No prior experience in using encaustic paints is necessary for the basic workshop.
